REGULATIONS FIAF LITERATURE PRIZE "ALVARO BONILLA LARA"
Approved at the XXXVI FIAF Meeting, Buenos Aires, Argentina, November 1, 2002
Article 1° - Aims
The FIAF Alvaro Bonilla Lara Literature Prize is aimed at promoting Philatelic Literature, in the framework of the Inter-American Philatelic Federation, and to publicy acknowledge the importance, relevance and work of research and/or dissemination reflected in the entry awarded the annual prize.
Article 2 ° - Characteristics of the Prize.
The Prize will be a medal, or art object, and a Diploma, and will be presented in the course of the FIAF Annual Meeting followimg yhe one when the winner was picked, or else in the course of some relevant philatelic event, in the view of the Board.
Article 3 ° - Nominations.
SOcieties which are members of the Inter-American Philatelic Federation (FIAF) may every year nominate for the prize either a work philatelic research, or a group of articles or chronicles, for any of the competitive classes acknowledged by the FIP, or nominate the publisher and/or editor of a philatelic publications, as long as it is of philatelic interest to the FIAF member countruies, in particular, or for stamp collecting in general.
The work of philatelic research or the group of articles or chronicles monimated must have been publishied in the country where the member society nominating them is located. The same criteria shall apply when a publisher and/or editor of a philatelic publication is nominated.
Article 4 ° -Submitting nominations.
Nominations should be sibmitted to the FIAF Secretariat not over ninety (90) days runnib¿ng before holding the following Annual Meeting. Works nominated must have been published not over two years before the date of nomination. Should the publisher and/or editor of a philatelic publication be nominated, such publication must have been issued regulary and periodically within the same period.
Article 5 ° - Judging nominations.
The FIAF Vice-President, assisted by the FIAF Secretariat, shall appoin the three Judges who every year, will decide on the prize awarded, which may also be declared void. The Judges picked among the specialists in the FIAF Jury bodies for the Prize, must be from different countries, preferably not the country or countries submitteing the nominations to be judged. The Judges shall make their dicision known to the FIAF Secretariat within sixty (60) days running as form the date when they were appointed for their task. The FIAF Secretariat shall submit the Jury decision to consideration in the following Annual Meeting.
Article 6 ° - Criteria for Judging.
Los Jurados evaluarán las postulaciones para este premio aplicando los criterios y pautas de evaluación que la Federación Internacional de Filatelia tenga adoptados para la Literatura Filatélica en competición.
Article 7 ° - Members of the Jury.
Member societies may put down the names of specialists from their own comtries to join the current list of FIAF Judges who shall award this Prize. Candidates must be accredited as FIP or FIAF judges for the Philatelic Literature class, and the names submitted shall be given due consideration in the course of the Annual Meeting.
